I began drawing pen and inks at an early age. One of the first pen and inks is this drawing taken right out of “Pilgrim’s Progress”, and is the picture of Giant Despair. I drew this at age 13.
In some ways, pen and ink drawing is more difficult than painting with oils, because you must render shades and shadows, and textures such as; skin, hair, fur, feathers, wood, and stone, by using black lines and dots, on white paper. In fact some large pen and ink drawings take much longer to complete than the comparable oil painting.
Starting in the early 70’s, I produced about 50 different wildlife drawings, which were printed on a tan parchment paper and sold in several gift shops around the U.S.
